Takeoff disclaimer
## FlySafe Takeoff: your phone as a flight-phase monitor Open **FlySafe Takeoff** on your phone at the hold short, tap **Start monitoring**, and it follows you through every phase of the flight using the phone's GPS. Callouts are spoken out loud, and also come as a beep and a vibration. ### Features **Threshold** - Tick-box checklist to finish before crossing the threshold - Takeoff briefing on screen: *abort before V1 · below 300 ft straight ahead · above 300 ft turn* - Sets the field elevation automatically at the runway, so altitudes are measured above the runway **Takeoff** - Spoken calls: *Airspeed alive · V1 · Rotate · Positive rate · 300 ft, turn possible* - **ABORT** warning if speed drops before V1 - Below 300 ft the screen shows **STRAIGHT AHEAD**. Above 300 ft it shows **TURN OPTION**. - Sink-rate warning after takeoff - Warns if you start the takeoff roll before finishing the threshold checklist **Inflight** - **ATC recording:** records through the phone mic or an audio cable from the intercom, and can start by itself when you climb out. Recordings stay on your phone. - **ATC voice to text (beta):** a live transcript with **altitude**, **heading**, **squawk** and **frequency** highlighted. The last clearance stays on screen, with your GPS altitude and track compared to it. The transcript can be downloaded. **Landing** - **GUMPS** call below 1,000 ft: Gas · Undercarriage · Mixture · Prop · Seatbelts & Switches - Second check on short final, with a warning if GUMPS isn't ticked off **Also** - Large speed, altitude, climb-rate and track readouts - Keeps the screen on, and can be added to your home screen like an app - V1, rotate speed and alert altitudes can be set for your aircraft - Practice mode: **Simulate a flight** on the ground **Coming soon** - Bluetooth ATC audio straight to your headset - Voice to text that highlights altitude and heading assignments as they're spoken ### Disclaimer FlySafe Takeoff is an **advisory tool for situational awareness only**. It is **not an FAA-approved or certified instrument** and must not be used as a primary reference for navigation, altitude, airspeed or aircraft control. - **The pilot in command is solely responsible** for the operation and safety of the aircraft (14 CFR 91.3). Always follow the aircraft's POH/AFM, your instruments, ATC instructions and your training. - **GPS limitations:** phone GPS altitude can be off by 30–50 ft or more, and updates about once a second. Speeds are **ground speed, not airspeed**, so V1 and rotate calls will come late in a headwind and early in a tailwind. Signal can be lost or degraded in the cockpit. - **Voice to text is a beta feature.** It may mishear, miss or invent words. **Never use the transcript instead of listening to, reading back or confirming an ATC clearance.** Your audio is processed by your phone's speech service (Google or Apple). - **Recordings:** ATC recordings are saved only on your device. You are responsible for following any laws that apply to recording conversations with people in the cockpit. - **Mount the phone securely** and don't let it distract you during critical phases of flight. Alerts may not sound if the phone is muted, locked or low on battery, or if the browser is in the background. - Flightworthy / BIT13 makes no warranty about accuracy or availability and accepts no liability for any loss, damage or injury from using this tool. --- The dashboard page itself currently has only a short one-line note at the bottom.
